FBI Agent Mark Crider in Beaverton, Oregon

FBI Aent Mark Crider and Black Belt in the ASKA came to visit our Beaverton Hombu Dojo the beginning of this month. Special Agent Crider is also a top firearms instructor for the FBI and Police and helped both Sensei Paul and Arnold Krell with their shooting skills.”Since my early training as a police officer back in Ohio I had become very rusty on shooting, but Mark revived a great deal of my former accuracy” said Sensei Paul.

In addition and another reason for his visit was to help advise one of our high school students to think about a summer internship with the FBI and to talk to her about life as a Special Agent.

Prior to joining the FBI Mark was a RIO (Radar Intercept Officer) in the Navy for 10 years flying the F14 Tomcat. We hope he will visit again soon.

Tiger's Best Instructors Sensei Danni and Julie San

Sensei Danni Verona and Sensei Julie Magers planning the Curriculum for a new Monday and Wednesday 7:30 pm to 8:15 pm Women’s Only Karate Classes.  Women’s leadership and development is a major goal for Family Martial Arts Academy and the American Shorin-ryu Karate Association.  Last year we had around 23 women take our special FAST Self-Defense session which worked with adrenelin induced quick response to an escalated threat.  There has been a growing demand for Family Martial Arts Academy to offer special programs for women and we are happy to do so under the able leadership of our two top women instructors.
